Target Information

Neuropilin-1 is a receptor integral to cardiovascular development, angiogenesis, the formation of specific neuronal circuits, and organogenesis beyond the nervous system. It facilitates the chemorepellent action of semaphorins. In mice, Neuropilin-1 is involved in a wide array of biological processes, including neural development, angiogenesis, immune regulation, and viral infection. In mouse embryos, lacking NRP1 results in abnormal vascular development, characterized by missing vascular branching and limited capillary networks. Additionally, NRP1 is linked to placental angiogenesis. As a receptor for placental growth factor-2 (PlGF-2), it underscores its crucial role in angiogenesis.
