Additionally, sC5b-9 can transform into a water-soluble form by binding to plasma proteins such as fibrinogen, which prevents aggregation and allows it to participate in various physiological or pathological processes. Furthermore, in certain cases, sC5b-9 may act as a signaling protein complex, promoting cytokine production and causing vascular leakage.
