Target Information

Thyroxine, or T4, is the primary hormone generated by the thyroid gland. There are two forms of T4: one that binds to proteins in the blood and another that circulates freely without binding. Free T4 testing evaluates the unbound T4 in the bloodstream, which can enter and affect body tissues.
