Target Information
4-Hydroxynonenal (4-HNE), also known as 4-hydroxy-2E-nonenal, is an α,β-unsaturated hydroxyalkenal produced by lipid peroxidation in cells. 4-HNE is generated during the oxidation of lipids containing polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acids, such as arachidonic and linoleic acids. 4-Hydroxynonenal (HNE) modification is an important post-translational modification of proteins, which mainly occurs on the cysteine, histidine, lysine and some arginine side chains of proteins.
