Target Information
Antidiuretic hormone (ADH), also known as vasopressin, is a peptide hormone synthesized in the hypothalamus and released from the posterior pituitary gland. Antidiuretic Hormone is encoded by the AVP gene in sheep. It plays a crucial role in water conservation by regulating the reabsorption of water in the kidneys. Research has shown that pregnancy does not alter the relationship between plasma osmolality and plasma AVP or the renal responsiveness to AVP in sheep.
