Rabbit Interleukin-6 (IL6) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays a crucial role in immune regulation, inflammation, and tissue repair. It is produced by various cell types, including monocytes, macrophages, and endothelial cells, in response to infection or tissue injury. IL6 promotes the acute phase response by inducing the production of proteins such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and serum amyloid A (SAA) in hepatocytes. It also supports B cell differentiation into immunoglobulin-secreting cells and regulates the balance of T cell subsets. In rabbits, IL6 levels significantly increase during inflammatory conditions, such as those caused by Pasteurella multocida infection, contributing to leukocytosis and elevated inflammatory markers. Its involvement in both immune defense and disease pathology makes IL6 a key target for studying immune responses and developing therapeutic strategies for inflammatory diseases.
