Target Information
Chicken CD166 Antigen (ALCAM) is a cell adhesion molecule that plays a crucial role in various biological processes, including immune response, inflammation, and cell migration. It is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and is involved in both homotypic (ALCAM-ALCAM) and heterotypic (ALCAM-CD6) cell-cell interactions. ALCAM promotes T-cell activation and proliferation through its interactions with CD6 and contributes to the formation and maturation of the immunological synapse. In addition, ALCAM is required for normal organization of the lymph vessel network and hematopoietic stem cell engraftment in the bone marrow. It also plays a role in neurite extension, axon growth, and axon guidance, with axons preferentially growing on surfaces that contain ALCAM.
