Target Information
Mouse Androgen Receptor (Ar) is a nuclear receptor that plays a crucial role in regulating male sexual development and maintaining secondary sexual characteristics. It binds to androgens, such as testosterone, and regulates the expression of target genes involved in reproductive system development, muscle growth, and bone metabolism. In mouse models, Ar is highly expressed in tissues such as the prostate, testes, and epididymis, where it influences spermatogenesis and prostate function. Abnormal expression or mutations in Ar can lead to androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS) and various cancers, including prostate cancer. Additionally, Ar has been implicated in the regulation of immune responses and metabolic processes.
