Target Information
Mouse Angiotensinogen (Agt) is a key component of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), playing a crucial role in regulating blood pressure and electrolyte balance. It is cleaved by renin to produce angiotensin I, which is further converted to the biologically active angiotensin II, causing vasoconstriction and increased blood pressure. Agt also regulates cardiovascular function by influencing vascular smooth muscle and the sympathetic nervous system. It is involved in hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and kidney diseases. Agt is expressed in various tissues and is implicated in wound healing and metabolic processes. Research using Agt knockout models and drug interventions has shown its potential as a therapeutic target for hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and kidney diseases.
