Target Information
Sheep Beta-2-microglobulin (B2M) is a crucial component of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules in sheep. This protein is essential for the immune system, as it facilitates the presentation of antigens to cytotoxic T cells. The function of B2M is not only limited to antigen presentation but also extends to immune surveillance and modulation. It plays a significant role in the recognition and destruction of virus-infected cells and tumor cells by the immune system. Moreover, B2M has been identified as a potential prognostic marker for various diseases, including certain types of cancer. In veterinary medicine, B2M is important for understanding the sheep immune response and for developing strategies to enhance disease resistance in sheep.
