Mouse Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 3 (Flt4, also known as VEGFR-3) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a crucial role in lymphangiogenesis and vascular development. It is primarily expressed on lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs) and some vascular endothelial cells. Flt4 binds to VEGF-C and VEGF-D, promoting the proliferation, survival, and migration of LECs, which are essential for the formation and maintenance of the lymphatic system. During embryonic development, Flt4 signaling is vital for the development of the vascular network and the cardiovascular system. In adult organisms, Flt4 is involved in lymphangiogenesis, which is important for tissue fluid homeostasis and immune surveillance. Additionally, Flt4 can modulate vascular permeability in blood vessel endothelial cells by controlling the expression of VEGFR2, another key angiogenesis regulator. Dysregulation of Flt4 has been implicated in various pathological conditions, including cardiovascular anomalies and lymphatic disorders.

User Note
