Target Information
Mouse Reelin (Reln) is a large extracellular glycoprotein crucial for brain development and function. It regulates neuronal migration, ensuring proper layering in the cortex and hippocampus. Reelin binds to receptors like VLDLR and ApoER2, triggering signaling pathways that promote dendritic growth and synaptic plasticity. In adult brains, Reelin is produced by specific GABAergic interneurons and modulates cognitive functions. Reelin deficiency, as seen in reeler mice, leads to disorganized neuronal layers and impaired cognition.
