Target Information
Rabbit Arginase (ARG1) is a key enzyme involved in the urea cycle, converting L-arginine into urea and L-ornithine. This process is crucial for nitrogen metabolism and detoxification. In rabbits, ARG1 is highly expressed in the liver, where it plays a vital role in maintaining nitrogen balance. ARG1 also regulates L-arginine levels outside the liver, impacting immune responses. For instance, ARG1 released by granulocytes can suppress the functions of T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, modulating the immune system. Additionally, ARG1 has been implicated in various physiological processes, including the regulation of lipid metabolism and the maintenance of cellular redox balance. Its multifunctional nature makes ARG1 an important factor in both metabolic and immune functions in rabbits.
