Target Information
Canine anionic trypsin is a serine protease enzyme that is primarily found in the pancreatic juice of dogs. This protein plays a crucial role in the digestive process by breaking down proteins into smaller peptides and amino acids. It is involved in the activation of other pancreatic enzymes and is an important marker for pancreatic diseases such as pancreatitis in dogs. The anionic form of trypsin is characterized by its negative charge at physiological pH and is distinguished from the cationic form, which has a positive charge. Anionic trypsin is also significant in veterinary medicine for the diagnosis and management of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) in dogs.
