Target Information

Mouse Pro-Neuregulin-1, specifically the membrane-bound isoform (Nrg1), is a critical growth factor involved in multiple biological processes. It contains an epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like domain that activates ErbB receptor tyrosine kinases. This isoform is essential for neural development, synaptic plasticity, and myelination. In cardiac development, Nrg1 regulates cardiomyocyte dynamics, cell cycle progression, and maturation during ventricular chamber morphogenesis. It also plays a protective role in respiratory viral infections by reducing alveolar leak, inhibiting epithelial necroptosis, and promoting homeostatic regulation of the airway epithelium. Additionally, Nrg1 has been shown to improve mitochondrial function in skeletal muscle, highlighting its diverse roles in tissue homeostasis and disease prevention.
