Target Information
Mouse 10 kDa Heat Shock Protein, Mitochondrial (Hspe1) is a key component of the mitochondrial HSP60/HSP10 chaperonin complex, which assists in the folding of proteins within the mitochondrial matrix. This complex is essential for maintaining protein homeostasis and preventing protein misfolding and aggregation. Hspe1 forms a heptameric ring that binds to HSP60 to create a functional heterodimer, facilitating ATP-dependent protein folding. In mouse models, Hspe1 is highly expressed in tissues with high metabolic activity, such as the liver and heart. Abnormal expression or function of Hspe1 has been implicated in various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders and cancer. Additionally, Hspe1 has been shown to play a role in mitochondrial dynamics, with its depletion leading to mitochondrial fragmentation and decreased fusion.
