Target Information

Mouse CD83 Antigen, or CD83, is an antigen expressed on dendritic cells, involved in immune response regulation. In mouse models, CD83 is used to study dendritic cell maturation and immune response initiation. CD83 is upregulated upon dendritic cell activation and maturation, and its expression is associated with the ability of these cells to stimulate T cell responses. The molecule functions as a ligand for immune regulatory receptors and can modulate the interaction between dendritic cells and T cells. In cancer immunotherapy, CD83 has been explored as a target to enhance dendritic cell-based vaccines, as promoting CD83 expression may improve their antigen-presenting capacity and efficacy in stimulating antitumor immunity. Additionally, CD83 is involved in the regulation of immune tolerance, as its expression on certain dendritic cell subsets can promote the induction of regulatory T cells. Understanding the dual roles of CD83 in immune activation and tolerance has potential applications in developing therapies for infectious diseases, cancer, and autoimmune disorders.
