Target Information
Rat Coagulation Factor II (Factor II), also called prothrombin, is a vitamin-K-dependent plasma glycoprotein synthesized in the liver. It is the inactive precursor of thrombin, the central serine protease that converts fibrinogen to fibrin, activates platelets, and amplifies the coagulation cascade. Its expression is constitutive yet inducible during injury, ensuring rapid hemostatic response. Factor II antibodies enable specific localization and functional analysis of thrombin generation pathways in rat coagulation, inflammation, and vascular injury models.
