Target Information
Mouse indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase (IDO1) is a 45-kDa heme-containing enzyme widely expressed in mouse immune cells (dendritic cells, macrophages, T cells) and mucosal tissues (lung, intestine, placenta). It catalyzes the rate-limiting step in tryptophan catabolism, converting tryptophan to kynurenine-depleting local tryptophan to suppress T cell proliferation and promote regulatory T cell differentiation. This mechanism mediates immune tolerance, modulates inflammatory responses, and supports maternal-fetal tolerance during pregnancy. Inducible by interferon-γ and other pro-inflammatory signals, it balances immune activation and tolerance in physiological and pathological contexts (e.g., infection, autoimmunity, cancer). As a key immune regulatory enzyme, mouse IDO1 is a critical target for studying immunology, autoimmune diseases, and cancer immunotherapy.
