Target Information

Mouse granulin (GRN) is a 68-kDa secreted glycoprotein widely expressed in murine tissues, including brain, immune cells, and epithelial tissues. It undergoes proteolytic processing into bioactive granulin peptides, regulating diverse cellular processes: cell proliferation, tissue repair, inflammatory responses, and lysosomal function. Critical for murine embryonic development, wound healing, and immune homeostasis, it modulates signaling pathways involved in tissue remodeling and anti-microbial defense. Dysregulated expression or processing associates with neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., frontotemporal dementia), fibrosis, and cancer in mouse models. As a multifunctional mediator of tissue physiology and disease, mouse GRN is a key target for studying neurodegenerative pathobiology, inflammatory disorders, and peptide-based therapeutics.
