Target Information
Mouse complement C4-B (C4B) is a 190-kDa glycoprotein of the classical and lectin complement pathways, predominantly synthesized in mouse hepatocytes and secreted into plasma. It functions as a key effector molecule: upon activation, it cleaves into C4b and C4a fragments, with C4b covalently binding to pathogen surfaces or immune complexes to mediate opsonization, enhance phagocytosis by macrophages, and amplify complement cascade activation. Expressed ubiquitously in mouse tissues (liver, spleen, lymph nodes) and induced during inflammation, it supports host defense against pathogens and modulates immune homeostasis. As a critical component of innate immunity, mouse C4B is a target for studying autoimmune diseases, infectious disorders, and complement-mediated tissue damage.
