Target Information
Signal transducer and activator of transcription 5B is encoded by the STAT5B gene in sheep. STAT5B is required for eosinophil differentiation of human cord blood-derived CD34+ cells. It plays a critical role in the differentiation of several myeloid cell lines. STAT5B activation is induced by interleukin-5 (IL-5), which is involved in eosinophil differentiation. In an ovine model, research has shown that Stat5b may be involved in processes other than initiation of milk protein gene transcription.
