Target Information
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor D (VEGF-D) is a growth factor involved in angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, and endothelial cell growth, promoting their proliferation and migration while influencing blood vessel permeability. It may play a role in forming venous and lymphatic vascular systems during embryogenesis and maintaining differentiated lymphatic endothelium in adults. Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor D binds to and activates the VEGFR-3 (Flt4) receptor. In mice, the primary functions of VEGF-D pertain to the development of lymphatic vessels and the vascular system.
