Target Information

Alanine aminotransferase 1 catalyzes the reversible transamination between alanine and 2-oxoglutarate, resulting in the formation of pyruvate and glutamate. It plays a role in cellular nitrogen metabolism and liver gluconeogenesis, beginning with precursors transported from skeletal muscles. In mice, Alanine aminotransferase 1 (ALT1) is primarily associated with amino acid metabolism. The ALT1 gene in mice has been cloned and named mALT1, with the encoded protein being highly homologous to the human ALT1 (approximately 93%). Research has demonstrated that mALT1 is predominantly expressed in the liver, intestine, and gallbladder of mice, while mALT2 shows high expression in muscle, myocardium, and skeletal muscle.
