Target Information

The Vitamin D receptor (VDR), also known as the calcitriol receptor, belongs to the nuclear receptor family of transcription factors. VDR plays a pivotal role in regulating gene expression. Vitamin D3 Receptor is encoded by the VDR gene in pigs. Vitamin D receptors are reported in vascular smooth muscle cells, endothelial cells, and cardiomyocytes. Upon binding calcitriol, VDR forms a heterodimer with the retinoid-X receptor.
