Mouse Thrombospondin 3 (THBS3) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

Thrombospondin-3 (TSP3) is an adhesive glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in facilitating cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix interactions. It has the ability to bind to various extracellular matrix components, including fibrinogen, fibronectin, laminin, and type V collagen. Studies on TSP3 knockout mice have revealed significant abnormalities in skeletal development, such as altered bone geometry, changes in mechanical properties, and accelerated development of the femoral head. These mice exhibit increased bone weight, an expanded cortical bone area, and an earlier onset of vascular invasion and bone formation. The expression of the TSP3 gene is regulated by its neighboring gene, Metaxin, through a long-range regulatory mechanism involving a far upstream enhancer located within intron 6 of the Metaxin gene.
