Target Information

Procalcitonin (PCT) is a prohormone of calcitonin that has been described as an endogenous inflammatory biomarker of bacterial infection. PCT is produced by many types of cells in the body. Normally, there are very low levels of PCT in the blood. PCT is suitable for the detection and differentiation of mastitis in cows and may therefore be a potential biomarker.
