Target Information
Neuregulin-1 (NRG1) in mice is involved in various biological processes and systems, such as neural development, myelination, cardiac conduction system formation, and behavioral functions. It plays a crucial role by binding to ErbB receptors, including ErbB2 and ErbB3. During neural development, NRG1 influences the survival and differentiation of Schwann cells primarily through axonal signaling. It is widely expressed in the central nervous system and is linked to the expression and function of several neurotransmitter receptors. For instance, mice deficient in NRG1 display behavioral phenotypes resembling schizophrenia, such as abnormal exploratory behavior, heightened anxiety, and impaired cognitive function.
