Target Information
Adenylate cyclase-stimulating G alpha protein is a heterotrimeric G protein consisting of alpha, beta, and gamma subunits. GSα activates adenylyl cyclase, an enzyme that converts ATP to cyclic AMP (cAMP), a crucial second messenger involved in various cellular signaling pathways. It is encoded by the bovine GNAS gene. DNA sequence polymorphisms within the genomic imprinting domain encoding the bovine guanine nucleotide-binding protein Gs subunit alpha (Gsα) (GNAS) gene have been associated with performance traits.
