Target Information

Lymphotoxin-beta is a cytokine that interacts with LTBR/TNFRSF3 and may have a specific role in regulating immune responses. It acts as the membrane anchor, facilitating the attachment of the heterotrimeric complex to the cell surface. When Lymphotoxin-beta forms a heterodimeric complex with Lymphotoxin-alpha, it is crucial for the development of lymphoid organs like lymph nodes and the spleen, by engaging with the LT beta receptor (LT beta R). Mice deficient in LT-beta exhibit significant abnormalities in lymphoid organ development, including the absence of lymph nodes, an abnormal spleen structure, and the loss of Peyer's patches.
