Target Information

Interleukin 17F is an effector cytokine involved in both innate and adaptive immune systems, playing a key role in antimicrobial defense and maintaining tissue integrity. It signals through the IL17RA-IL17RC heterodimeric receptor complex, prompting interactions between the IL17RA and IL17RC chains and the TRAF3IP2 adapter via SEFIR domains. Produced by Th17 cells, IL-17F works alongside IL-17A to regulate inflammatory responses. Mouse model studies have shown IL-17F's pathogenic role in colitis by attracting neutrophils. In the model of HSV-1-induced ocular infection, IL-17F expression was noted, potentially promoting corneal angiogenesis. Research indicates that the absence of IL-17F can reduce angiogenesis and thereby alleviate disease progression.
