Target Information

Alpha-2-HS-glycoprotein likely plays a role in differentiation and aids in the invasion of hepatocytes by Plasmodium berghei sporozoites. In mice, AHSG performs various biological functions, such as inhibiting abnormal calcification, regulating bone growth and remodeling, possessing anti-tumor properties, and contributing to immune regulation. Research indicates that AHSG-deficient mice experience severe calcification in multiple organs when on a normal diet or one rich in minerals and vitamin D. However, this phenotype is not linked to changes in calcium and phosphorus homeostasis but is attributed to the reduced inhibitory effect on mineral formation.
