Target Information

Actin-like protein 6B plays a role in the transcriptional activation and repression of specific genes through chromatin remodeling. It is a part of the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complexes, which perform essential enzymatic functions by modifying chromatin structure via altering DNA-histone interactions within a nucleosome in an ATP-dependent manner. Mice lacking ACTL6B show behavioral deficits associated with autism, such as social behavior disorders, memory issues, and repetitive actions. Furthermore, the connectivity between the hippocampus and cortex in ACTL6B knockout mice is compromised, highlighting the vital role of ACTL6B in maintaining neuronal connectivity.
