Target Information

The T-cell surface glycoprotein CD4 is an integral membrane glycoprotein that is crucial for immune responses, performing various functions in defending against both external and internal threats. In T-cells, CD4 primarily acts as a coreceptor for the MHC class II molecule:peptide complex. Class II peptides present antigens derived from extracellular proteins, while class I peptides present antigens from cytosolic proteins. In mice, CD4's function is closely associated with the development and activity of regulatory T cells (Treg). It facilitates the formation and maintenance of these cells by binding to CD25, playing a key role in maintaining immune system balance and suppression.
