Target Information

C5a anaphylatoxin chemotactic receptor 1 serves as a receptor for the chemotactic and inflammatory peptide anaphylatoxin C5a. The ligand binds to at least two sites on this receptor: a high-affinity site located on the extracellular N-terminus and another in the transmembrane region, which is responsible for activating downstream signaling events. Activation of this receptor induces chemotaxis, the release of granule enzymes, the release of intracellular calcium, and the production of superoxide anions. In mice, C5aR1 plays complex and varied roles across numerous areas, including neurodegenerative, autoimmune, allergic, and skin diseases, as well as in bone metabolism, kidney, and cardiovascular diseases.
