Target Information
Angiotensin-(1-7) (Ang-(1-7)) is an endogenous peptide generated by the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), which plays significant roles in cardiovascular, renal, and immune regulation. It counteracts the pressor effects of angiotensin II (Ang II) through the activation of Mas receptors, thereby helping to lower blood pressure. In a 5/6 nephrectomy mouse model, Ang-(1-7) significantly enhanced cardiac function and left ventricular remodeling, while reducing myocardial interstitial fibrosis and the expression of inflammatory factors. In aged mice, Ang-(1-7) lowered blood pressure by decreasing cardiac sympathetic nerve activity. Additionally, Ang-(1-7) promotes nitric oxide (NO) production via Mas receptor activation, improving vascular endothelial function and reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. Studies indicate that Ang-(1-7) offers protective effects in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury by mitigating myocardial damage through the inhibition of NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways.
