Target Information

Gamma-glutamyltransferase 1 (GGT1), also known as CD224, is encoded by the chicken GGT1 gene. GGT1 catalyzes the transfer of the glutamyl moiety from glutathione (an important antioxidant) to various amino acids and dipeptide acceptors. This transfer can occur in tissues involved in absorption and secretion. It is a membrane-bound enzyme that is important in the metabolism of extracellular glutathione. The enzyme consists of a heavy chain and a light chain, both derived from a single precursor protein.

Target/Biomarker Chicken GGT1
Target Synonym gamma-glutamyltransferase 2; GGT2; gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase 1; glutathione hydrolase 1 proenzyme; gamma-glutamyltransferase 1
