Target Information

Substance P (SP) is a neuropeptide that acts as a neurotransmitter and a neuromodulator. It is released from the terminals of specific sensory nerves. SP is found in the brain, spinal cord, and is associated with inflammatory processes and pain. In a porcine model of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), SP improved Left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction early post-MI and reduced infarct size.
