Target Information

Tetrahydrofolic acid (THFA) or tetrahydrofolate is a derivative of folic acid. It is a cofactor in many reactions, particularly in the synthesis (or anabolism) of amino acids and nucleic acids. It acts as a carrier molecule for single-carbon moieties (e.g., methyl, methylene, formyl) necessary for processes like DNA synthesis. When combined with a single-carbon group, it donates that group for various cellular reactions.
