Target Information

Prostaglandin F2α, also known as carboprost, is a naturally occurring prostaglandin. In obstetrics, PGF2α is employed to sustain contractions and promote myometrial ischemia during labor. In domestic mammals, it is produced by the uterus when stimulated by oxytocin in the absence of implantation during the luteal phase. PGF2 alpha has a a dual effect on prolactin secretion in the fowl.
