Target Information

C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 serves as a receptor for the C-X-C chemokine CXCL12/SDF-1, facilitating signal transduction by raising intracellular calcium ion levels and promoting the activation of MAPK1/MAPK3. It plays a role in the AKT signaling cascade. In mice, Cxcr4 is crucial for various biological processes, including the immune and nervous systems, angiogenesis, bone marrow development, and inflammatory response. Acting as the primary receptor for the chemokine SDF-1 (CCL12), Cxcr4 is vital for lymphocyte migration and homing. Mice deficient in Cxcr4 exhibit significant B lymphocyte development disorders and a decrease in hematopoietic precursor cells in the bone marrow, though T lymphocyte development remains unaffected. In B cells, Cxcr4 is essential for maintaining the peripheral B cell pool balance. The absence of Cxcr4 leads to the premature migration of B cell precursors in the bone marrow and their accumulation in spleen follicles, ultimately resulting in a reduced number of mature B cells.
