Target Information
Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), also known as adrenocorticotropin or corticotropin, is a polypeptide tropic hormone produced and secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. Both ACTH and cortisol exhibit complex secretory patterns with ultradian and circadian rhythms. It is involved in the body's response to biological stress. In a caprine model, the amplitude of ACTH and cortisol pulses was significantly reduced by dexamethasone treatment.
