Target Information
Adenylate kinase isoenzyme 1 (AK1), also known as adenylate kinase 1, is an enzyme involved in regulating the adenine nucleotide composition within a cell. It catalyzes the reversible transfer of the terminal phosphate group between ATP and AMP. Adenylate kinase isoenzyme 1 is encoded by the AK1 gene in cattle. It is also known as myokinase. It is a cytosolic protein. Low levels of AK1 can cause an imbalance in adenine nucleotide pools.
