Target Information

Bovine Patatin-Like Phospholipase Domain-Containing Protein 2 is an enzyme with triglyceride lipase activity, involved in fat metabolism in various tissues. It is encoded by the PNPLA2 gene in cattle. It is found in adipose tissue, liver, and other tissues involved in fat storage and metabolism. Previous work in nonruminants and dairy cattle identified PNPLA2 as a highly-expressed lipolytic enzyme in white AT, and was associated with controls of basal and β-2-adrenergic-stimulated triacylglycerol hydrolysis.

Target/Biomarker Bovine PNPLA2
Target Synonym patatin like phospholipase domain containing 2; ATGL; patatin-like phospholipase domain-containing protein 2; adipose triglyceride lipase; calcium-independent phospholipase A2-zeta; iPLA2-zeta
Gene ID 508493
