Target Information

Mucin-1 (MUC-1) is a heterodimer transmembrane protein encoded by the MUC1 gene in cattle. It is cleaved into two chains: mucin-1 subunit alpha and mucin-1 subunit beta. It is found in various cellular compartments, including cytoplasm, mitochondrial membranes, trans-golgi network, golgi apparatus, nucleus, autophagosome, and more. It is a highly polymorphic gene encoding an extensively glycosylated mucin that binds bacteria.
