Target Information
Bovine Glutathione S-transferase P is encoded by the GSTP1 gene in cattle. It is the most widely studied member of the GST family. Its primary function is to conjugate hydrophobic and electrophilic compounds with reduced glutathione. By doing so, it helps neutralize and eliminate toxic substances from the body. GSTP1 has many physiological and pathological functions and it is a key regulator of hepatocyte proliferation during the initial stages of liver regeneration.
