Target Information
CD3 is an integral part of the T-cell receptor (TCR) complex. This complex is composed of three distinct polypeptide dimers: γɛ, δɛ, and ζζ. Together, CD3 and the T-cell receptor (TCR) form the TCR complex. TCR molecules consist of two different heterodimers: αβ and γδ. Most mature T cells have TCR αβ, while only approximately 5% of T cells express TCR γδ. CD3ζ-deficient mice exhibit arrested thymic development, particularly at the CD4+CD8- double negative (DN) stage, resulting in reduced numbers of mature T cells. Abnormal function of CD3 may be associated with the occurrence of certain diseases. In a diabetic model, the application of CD3 antibodies can restore the self-tolerance of mice, indicating the potential role of CD3 in regulating autoimmune responses.
