Target Information
Microtubule-Associated Protein Tau (MAPT), also known simply as tau protein, is a multifunctional protein found throughout the nervous system, particularly in nerve cells (neurons) within the brain. Tau physiologically associates with microtubules (MTs), which are rigid, hollow fibers forming the cell's structural framework (the cytoskeleton). Bovine Microtubule-Associated Protein Tau is encoded by the MAPT gene in cattle. Research has shown that Tau plays various roles in rod outer segment of bovine retinal photoreceptors.
