Target Information
Myelin and Lymphocyte Protein (MAL), also known as cell surface-associated mucin 15, is a highly hydrophobic integral membrane protein. Bovine Myelin and Lymphocyte Protein is encoded by the MAL gene in cattle. MAL is necessary for both epsilon-toxin binding and cytotoxicity. It is a highly hydrophobic, tetraspan membrane proteolipid with two extracellular loops. MAL is believed to be involved in myelin biogenesis and function, as well as in the formation, stabilization, and maintenance of lipid rafts.
