Target Information

Lysozyme C, also known as muramidase or N-acetylmuramide glycanhydrolase, is an antimicrobial enzyme produced by animals that forms part of the innate immune system. Large amounts of lysozyme can be found in egg white. As bacterial cells are typically resistant to mammalian digestive enzymes, ruminants have recruited lysozyme C to break down these cells. In summary, lysozyme is an essential antimicrobial enzyme that targets bacterial cell walls, contributing to the body's defense against infections.
